The
Bartow County Jail Expansion
Expansion of the existing Bartow County
Jail facility project is necessary due to overcrowding in the existing
jail facility. The expansion will add two new pods to the existing
jail and a minimum security building at the jail compound that will be
used as a work release area for inmates. The planned expansion
will add 650 beds to the 472 beds in the existing facility, making this
the largest holding facility in the state north of Cobb County.
The County has allocated $30,000,000 for the project.
The architectural firm of Pond
and Company was chosen to design the project. Peter Brown
Construction Co. has been awarded the contract for construction.
The project is already underway and is projected to be completed in late
November 2010.
