The Great American Cleanup is a nationwide effort to clean up communities across the country. All over America, the over 500 Keep America Beautiful affiliates join with their national and state programs to clean up, recycle, plant trees and flowers, remove graffiti, and beautify beaches, parks, playgrounds and neighborhoods. It is the nation’s largest community improvement program. In 2011, more than 3.8 million volunteers in 16,500 communities took part in 30,600 Great American Cleanup events.   A full list of 2011 results can be found online at kab.org/GAC_2011Results . National and State Sponsors support the work of volunteers in our area cleanups, and local sponsors donate time, money, and materials to the cause, helping with refreshments, door prizes, and t-shirts.
